Regarding your upcoming Studio Ghibli release. Is it every one of the studio’s films, or just the ones Miyazaki was directly involved in?
Over time, I will try to do most of them but I’m doing so much large encodes that it might take a while.
Not a really urgent request… But it would be nice if you could do Code Geass (Both Seasons) from Thora.
There already exist re-encodes of both seasons but the episodes lack the openings.
And it might be just me but for me an episode is only complete if it comes with OP and ED.
I’d recommend using OZC subs for both of the seasons for more consistency. THORA used different subs for both seasons so there might be inconsistency in between along with errors not fixed by them. Also, the lack of OP and ED was caused by Ordered Chapters in their releases while OZC didn’t use Ordered Chapters.

I am much aware of that fact, Skazklu-san. Actually, the moment I saw it, I hurriedly came here to let Zack-san know about it and of course I always kept on waiting for it since last year. It was an good release, yes; though I rather prefer Zack-kun’s work coz I know his version is far better and we all know it, judging from his previous works. I’ve also waited a long time on Kaze Tachinu it’s another masterpiece and it should have won the Academy Award if you ask me.
DeadFish always releases good stuff aside from their QTS based releases.
They focus on small size good quality releases for all where as Zach focuses on the best possible re-encodes for the die hard anime fans and collector’s. 😉
Before I recommend a certain release as the best or preferred, I’ve tried to download almost all of the available ones first. I usually don’t accept comments and reviews as facts before I’ve tested them myself. Never recommend a re-encode as a source it won’t make the end result satisfactory.
You can help out too if you’d like. Try to look for non-fan sub based released for movies. The Blu-ray encodes that come with DTS and official subs are preferred. The official subs can always be traded/replaced for fan sub ones. They have the highest bitrate aside from the BDMV & Remux and always come in a decent download size for the re-encoder. Asking Zack to download a 50gb file for a single movie is ridiculous and should be forbidden!
I’ve checked all the downloads I’ve completed so far.
Apparently they are all encoded from the same BDMV ISO.
Non of the releases on Nyaa are good enough to re-encode so I’d skip them.
The Blu-ray (BDMV) comes with:
DTS-HD Master 1.0 (Mono) [how Hayao Miyazaki intended it, I personally dislike mono]
LPCM 2.0 (Lossless) [perfect for FLAC, DTS or AC3] 😉
AC3 192 English Dub 1.0 (Mono)
Most encoders and re-encoders alike nowadays use ReinForce raws so It’s up to you if want to join them I wouldn’t. I can’t commend on Kamigami, they release both 8bit & 10bit. I’ve had quite a few problems with the 8bit releases I’ve downloaded from them so I no longer get them.

P.s. please don’t make the 1080p file 4gb max. if you make the 720p that size and give it AC3 it’ll have a nice bitrate and the console owners will have nothing to complain about.
I would love a 1080p of max. 10gb with DTS (core size) 1536 or maybe 2 if you’re feeling generous… the other (smaller) one with AC3 640.

If you still want Rising Sun’s release, I can seed that just for you. Though I appreciate it, I don’t see the point of re-encoding that particular release any more. What makes that release great/the best is the DTS while the rest of the releases use AAC. As you can imagine, the difference is night and day. It has the highest video bitrate and the subs are timed perfectly. (it’s also 8bit)
It wouldn’t be the same with a re-encode no matter how well done. And it’s only the first season/series they never released the second. So you’ll have to go somewhere else to complete the package…
I’ve seeded the entire batch to completion trice, only to have them hit and run! So aside from you I won’t seed it for anyone any more period.

I’ve made seed and re-seed requests for both batches on some of your 1080p releases. (I did so because I knew you yourself didn’t have them any more.) It didn’t make any difference whatsoever tho. To be honest that pissed me of quite a bit. I’ve been seeding and reseeding 95% of all your (Japanese) releases since the beginning. I’m well past the 5TB mark now. (Again, I don’t have a seed-box so 5TB is no joke.) I don’t have to, but I like to do it. To make sure others can enjoy your releases as well. It’s me saying thanks to you and help you out at the same time. So when I try to download something myself that’s been up for a while and then get stuck for freakin’ 14 weeks(!) with no one helping out even after those requests… I decided to give up on it two weeks later. So no, you’ll never get that last 0.09% and/or 0.03% thanks to those pathetic mofo’s that hit and run and never look back. Btw Jormungand is still seeded well, I check every now and then. 😉
Well I think that’s about it. I haven’t made a comment this long in a while… feels good.

Anyway I’ve watched the remastered Seed which consists of so many flashbacks and re-used material that they could’ve made it a 25 ep series instead! Finished watching the original (dvd) Seed Destiny a couple days ago and there wasn’t even half as much flashbacks and re-used material in it. Maybe it’s because they were lazy with the remastering or because of budget problems. I’d like to know if it’s the same with the remastered Seed Destiny… can anyone comment on that?
The series itself is not that good and destiny is just bad. I’ve watched it twice now and will definitely not watch it a third time. I’d just leave Gundam Seed Destiny to the re-encoder who did the bit-starved Seed re-encode and focus on the better Gundam shows like Wing which is still one of my all time favorites. 😉

All you gotta say is the bluray version. Though it would be best he gets the version with the Yamamoto score up to episode 54-55. The entire Kikuchi replacement score through the Saiyan and Namek arcs had terrible placement.

Sadly Avatar The Last Airbender does not have any sort of HD release. It’s only format is 480p so if your looking for a HD version of the show, you won’t find one. Only Korra received the HD/Bluray treatment.
Though why Nick hasent gone and released TLA in Bluray is beyond me. The series is already beautiful as it is I fail to see why it hasent gotten a bluray version yet.
